CALANGUTE: Calangute Police arrested 32-year-old Manjunath Kadlikoppa, a native of Hubli but presently residing at Canca, Mapusa for murder attempt on three persons during a fight which took place on Wednesday morning.
According to Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi, a group of friends were partying at a restaurant along the Calangute-Baga road when at around 1.15 am an argument broke out over some petty issue which turned violent.
During the argument the accused Manjunath attacked his three friends namely Sagar Rathod, a resident of Calangute; Umesh Chavan from Mapusa and Krishna Rathod from Saligao with a knife.
Sagar is in a critical condition while Umesh’s condition is said to be stable. Sagar and Umesh were stabbed in the chest and are undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. The third victim, Krishna was stabbed in the leg.
After registering the offence, Calangute police immediately arrested the accused under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and is currently in police custody.
Police conducted the panchanama with the help of the forensic team and collected vital evidence.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Prajit Mandrekar under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.
