Huts razed in Margao

Taking cognizance of mushrooming huts in the Commercial capital, Deputy Collector, Margao Johnson Fernandes on Thursday razed down illegal hutments near the KTC bus stand and the wholesale fish market.
The deputy collector passed the order for demolition following media reports that illegal huts have resurfaced in the low lying areas behind the KTC bus stand, creating nuisance to the local farming community.
MMC workers, who were requisitioned to raze down the structures, also demolished the illegal huts erected on the bandh near the wholesale fish market. Incidentally, the illegal huts near the KTC bus stand were razed down only recently, but resurfaced within days of the demolition operation.
