DABOLIM: Dabolim Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday evening claimed that he had been neglected and ill-treated by the Congress government, while the Parrikar-led BJP government had implemented many of his projects.
Godinho was addressing a closed-door meeting with his supporters near the residence of Bogmalo Sarpanch Laximan Kavlekar in Bogmalo as his supporters were keen to know his position vis-a-vis the Lok Sabha elections.
“All my projects, including the market complex in Cortalim, the panchayat complex in Sancoale, a joggers park at Chicalim and the Dando Bridge were cancelled during the Congress rule, which are now passed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar,” stated Godinho.
“I had fought with the Congress government to legalise illegal houses, but they failed to act for the last 10 years. However, when I requested Parrikar during the budget session, he instantly agreed to legalise these houses.”
“All the works that were kept pending during the Congress regime were fulfilled by Parrikar though I was in the opposition. The two flyovers/grade separators, which are coming up at Dabolim airport are taken up by the BJP government though it was passed during my government,” he said.
Godinho further stated that in 2012, some leaders were involved in advising people to support BJP, but it is surprising to know that after two years, the same leaders are now advising their people not to support BJP.
“It is surprising that despite having so many Catholic minority leaders in BJP government, the BJP government is termed as ‘communal’,” said Godinho and sought to know the logic behind terming the BJP as communal.
He also came down heavily on Chicalim Panchayat members and former sarpanch and panch Anacleto D’Souza and Francisco Nunes (Chiquit), especially when they stood by him when disparaging remarks were made against him by the GPCC president.
