ICAR technical officer faces corruption charges

PANJIM: A technical officer with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) facing charges of corruption as the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered First Information Report (FIR) against her. 

Madina Sollapuri, an assistant chief technical officer at ICAR is likely to be summoned for questioning, sources said. 

As per the details available with Herald, the officer is charged with “intentionally and illicitly” amassed assets disproportionate to her actual source of income, amount of which is to the tune of Rs 73 lakh approximately. The duration of the alleged illegality has been committed from January 1, 2005 to February 28, 2021. 

“Considering the income as Rs 1.71 crore approximately and the expenditure as Rs 1.21 crore approximately during the check period, the accused has got likely savings of Rs 49.46 lakh approximately only whereas Sollapuri is found to have amassed assets worth Rs 1.22 crore approximately in the name of self and her family members, during the check period,” said the FIR copy.
