PANJIM, AUG 7
An order has been issued for disbursement of house tax collected by Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) from industrial units on behalf of the panchayats and municipal councils, told Chief Minister Digambar Kamat before the House on Friday, on the concluding day of the monsoon session.
He was replying to the question tabled by Siolim MLA Dayanand Mandrekar during Question Hour who questioned when the panchayats and municipal bodies would get their pending dues from IDC.
The IDC collected Rs 7.20 crore during last five years on behalf of panchayats and municipal bodies. The Opposition members demanded prompt disbursement of tax collected by IDC as weaker panchayats and municipalities hardly have any other source of income.
Of the total amount collected, Rs 4.52 crore has already been disbursed and outstanding amount for disbursement has been Rs 2.67 crore, Kamat said adding, he issued order for disbursement of balance amount last month.
