IGP asks officers to perform or quit

Advices against two women cops at one location; advocates action against cops using mobiles while on duty

BICHOLIM: IGP Sunil Garg on Saturday warned the Home Guards and other officers to either perform their duty
or quit.
During a discussion with the IGP, Sanquelim residents informed him about the home guards’ lackadaisical attitude while on duty. A resident said, “The home guards just keep chatting under the shade of a tree and do not have any control over traffic. They do not even have the personality or physique, which could be helpful to control traffic.”
The IGP instructed the PI to monitor the personnel on duty. He said, “It is best not to keep two female home guards at one location as it might lead to chatting and negligence of duty. If they are not performing send them home and employ new ones.”
He continued, “We have also instructed the police not to use mobiles while on duty. If anyone is found talking on mobiles strict action should be taken.”
Garg also asked the PI to monitor traffic in Sanquelim and depute a traffic officer to the city to ensure that the rules are followed.
