The parents of IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode, who died by suicide in his hostel room, have begun a hunger strike demanding the arrest of institute officials named as accused in the FIR registered in connection with his death.
Sahil’s parents, Ravindra and Sonali Wakode, launched the protest after meeting representatives of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), where they sought the immediate arrest of those named in the case.

The family has been demanding action against the officials they allege are responsible for circumstances surrounding their son’s death. Their latest protest comes as they seek progress in the investigation and accountability for those named in the FIR.
The family’s lawyer, Siddharth Ingle, has also raised concerns over a video allegedly linked to Sahil that was circulated publicly. Ingle alleged that there was a deliberate attempt to malign the student’s character and said the source from which the video was leaked should be investigated.
The family has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sahil’s death and action against those named in the case.
