SANGUEM: The Sanguem Police have written to Uguem Panchayat secretary to investigate into the illegal construction of houses on the government owned property at Cottarli in Sanguem.
The letter is addressed to the panchayat following a complaint by Santan Rodrigues bringing to fore the illegal construction of houses at Cotarli ward of Uguem village on government property.
It is pertinent to note here that Herald had highlighted the issue of the illegal construction earlier this month.
Taking advantage of the remoteness of the area, unknown persons have constructed laterite structures on the government property which is proposed to be acquired for IIT.
To take advantage of the upcoming IIT project in the area, unknown persons have commenced the illegal constructions on the land.
The Sanguem police have already conducted a site inspection of the area and after considering the seriousness of the issue and considering the possibility of the illegal structures being used for illegal activities, the Sanguem Police have called on the Uguem Village Panchayat to initiate due and necessary action in the matter.
