Illegal sand mining site at Colvale raided; truck, canoe seized

MAPUSA:  The team of officials from the Mines, Captain of Ports, Bardez Mamlatdar, Coastal and Colvale police on Sunday conducted a joint raid on illegal sand mining activity at the Chapora river at Camurlim and seized a canoe and truck.

Police stated that the illegally extracted sand was being loaded into the truck at Camurlim and the vehicle bearing Registration No GA 01 Z 3599 and the canoe loaded with 8 cubic meters of illegal freshly extracted river sand were attached under the panchanama.

The river sand loaded in canoe was dumped into the Chapora river while the Tipper Truck was seized by Colvale police.
