‘Illegal’ shacks flourish on Khola beach, locals point fingers at some panchas

Locals claim 6 out of 9 structures on the beach operate without licenses; allege some panchayat members involved in the illegalities

AGONDA: Despite being off-season, the shacks/resorts at Khola beach have continued to operate without legal licenses and irate locals have demanded that the authorities concerned initiate action against though indulging in illegalities.

As per the sources, 6 out of 9 structures on this beach still operate without licenses. Locals have also alleged that some panchayat members themselves are involved in these illegalities and state that this the main reason why no action is initiated against the other wrong doers.

Khola panchayat consists of 9 panch members and the post of sarpanch has fallen vacant after the former sarpanch Ajay Pagi’s resignation. “People who are involved in these corruption activities are not exposed yet. The authorities concerned need to take action against the violators of tourism and CRZ laws,” said former panch Shrinivas Nayak.
