PONDA: Locals from Sacorda Village Panchayat area are confused over the unusual transportation of laterite stones through their village.
The transportation of alleged illegal laterite stones from Sattari and Dharbandora has increased in the last few months and locals suspect that the laterite are being illegally extracted at Sattari and transported secretly from Dharbandora.
The transportation takes place on the Shel-Melavli to Kumbharwada route which is narrow.
Parents from the area are worried as high school students use this road to go to school and trucks carrying the stones travel at high speed. The trucks also pose a threat to many two-wheeler riders who use the route.
On their onward journey, the trucks go to Ponda and other places via Dharbandora and locals say they smell a rat.
