PANJIM: Indian Medical Association (IMA), Goa, has demanded stern action from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar against those involved in violence and assaults on doctors.
In a representation to the CM, IMA Goa President Dr Medha Salkar said, “We at IMA Goa State are deeply hurt at the continued violence and assault on doctors on duty.”
She brought to the notice of the CM that on Saturday, Dr Atul Pai Bir attached to the PHC at Sanquelim was threatened by a person of assault if he would be present in the hospital the following day. Salkar stated, “On the same day at night, one person came and told patient attendant Ashpak Ali, that ‘we should not see this doctor back at PHC Sanquelim on Monday. If he comes we will assault him’. Again the same person came on Sunday, and again warned Ashpak Ali that if Dr Atul Pai Bir is seen on Monday in hospital premises he will be assaulted.
