PONDA: Indian Medical Association (IMA) with around 1300 doctors, along with 150 students will observe black day on January 2, to oppose and protest against Central government move to table the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill in Parliament on January 2, by dissolving the IMA at Delhi, which is the topmost governing body of Indian doctors.
According to IMA the bill is anti-people, pro-rich and pro-private managements and the cost of medical education and healthcare will rise.
According to IMA Goa President Ajay Pednekar the routine OPD services of clinics and hospital across Goa will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on January 2. However, emergency and critical services would continue.
He said the bill should be submitted before the selection committee for scrutiny.
The IMA will also give a memorandum to the Governor, Chief Minister and Member of Parliament on January 2.
