PANJIM: The Goa Right of Citizens to Time Bound Delivery of Public Services Act, 2013 will be implemented in a phased manner with the first list of 14 services being brought under the Act, beginning March 1, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announced.
He however said that the more important sections of the Act which involved criminal liability on the officer failing to deliver the service will be introduced possibly in June.
The reason he said for the delayed introduction of the more important sections was to deter miscreants and publicity seekers from derailing the Act.
“The notification (of the rules under the Act) will be published Wednesday,” Parrikar said adding that once it is notified in the Gazette, it will come in force.
Beginning March 1, citizens can expect Form I & XIV, an NOC to transport a dead body to other states or outside India, births and death certificates all within two days.
Several other services will come into effect from the first of June including issue of residence certificates, divergence certificates, income certificates, caste certificates which will be done within ten days.
The issue of surrender certificate within five days and a new ration card within 30 days will also come into effect from June 1.
