PANJIM: The Education Department is planning to set up Smart Learning Rooms in schools across the State. A proposal to this effect is being forwarded to the Centre under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
Initially four schools could be selected where special smart learning rooms would be set up to provide students of classes IX and X knowledge access to e-learning. The State is seeking Rs 1 crore funding under this proposal.
Officials in the education department have disclosed that the proposal is being submitted for the first time under the RMSA for smart learning and will further facilitate Goa government’s concept of introducing smart classes across the State.
While Goa government’s smart classrooms aims to equip every class with facilities and teaching aids, the smart learning concept revolves around one room developed exclusively for providing latest technology and technology based education using computers, e-techniques, internet and so on. Each room would cater to around 40 students at a time from classes IX and X.
A series of meetings are scheduled later this month in this regard. The education department would also be seeking more funds under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), computer training, teaching aids, and other facilities .
The department is in the process of submitting reports on the present status of various schemes for funding by the Centre and would accordingly submit proposals for funding for consideration by the Centre.
