PANJIM: Goa recorded 2804 new COVID positive cases on Monday and reported 50 more deaths.
This takes the number of cases reported in the last ten days to 30,598, while there have been 561 deaths reported in the same period. It is to be noted that it was also reported that 20,720 people recovered in the last ten days.

On Monday, the COVID positivity rate was 45.91 per cent and 309 new patients were hospitalized while 2327 people were placed under home isolation.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant who has also started to share health bulletin figures, added that there were 56 vacant COVID oxygen beds as on Monday evening.
The health bulletin does state that 165 patients were discharged from various hospitals. While 2,367 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate is now at 72.06 per cent. While 6,107 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases has risen up to 32,262.
The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic has now gone up to 1,729. Incidentally, 48 deaths took place in 24 hours till Monday evening, while from the remaining 2, one was reported on May 6 and the second on May 8.
As per the COVID mortality bulletin released by the Directorate of Health Services on Monday, 28 people succumbed to the infection at Goa Medical College (GMC), 15 at the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), 1 at North Goa District Hospital (NGDH), 1 at the Margao ESI Covid Hospital, 1 at Urban Health Centre (UHC) Mapusa, 1 at Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) Bekti, 2 at a private hospital in North Goa and 1 at a private hospital in South Goa.
DHS added that from the 50 COVID deaths, only three of them had taken the first dose of the vaccine. Of the 50 deaths, except for two cases, all were above the age of 42.
Amongst the youngest to pass away, were a 34-year-old man from Khorlim and a 38-year-old man from Taleigao. 12 persons amongst the 50 who expired had no co-morbidities.
