PANJIM: The Goa Police has decided to reschedule the inauguration of the proposed Sancoale Police Station, after it ran into controversy for planning to hurriedly open the premises, housed in an dilapidated building, on August 15.
The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) had sought a reply from the department based on a complaint filed by Advocate Aires Rodrigues that the authorities were trying to ‘hurriedly and haphazardly’ inaugurate the new PS on August 15 at the old Electricity Department quarters which were abandoned for around two decades and in a very dilapidated condition.
South Goa SP Pankaj Kumar Singh in his written submission to the Commission stated that the inauguration of the PS will be scheduled only after the availability of all the facilities and the requisite notification being issued by the State government.
