CURCHOREM: People from Curchorem, particularly motorists, are highly disturbed by the incomplete desilting work of the gutters by the Curchorem Cacora Municipal council.
It is seen that piles of muck from the main drainage, including its concrete cover slabs left on the busy road, near the Curchorem railway station, are causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and the motorist, for the last several days.
A motorcycle taxi operator said that the muck kept on the road is scattered at many places. “Due to digging of the roads recently, to lay the pipeline, for sewage treatment plant (STP) and underground power cabling, the condition of roads has already become pathetic and there are potholes developing at many places. The waste from the gutter is also kept on the main road making it difficult to drive.” said the motorcycle taxi pilot.
“The pre monsoon work should have been completed by May end, but since they started the work very late, it is yet to be completed. It is seen for the last several days, the work has been stopped near the railway station causing difficulties for pedestrians to walk and motorist to drive as after every shot distance there is a pile of muck and since the drainage is kept open, it could pose a health risk and lead to further issues,” former councillor Manohar Naik said who urged the authorities to clear the area immediately..
When contacted the Vice-Chairperson of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Rucha Vasta said that the work is pending due to shortage of labourers.
