India Secures Historic Gold Medal in Equestrian at Asian Games after 41 years

In a remarkable achievement, India clinched a Gold medal in
equestrian at the Asian Games, marking their first triumph in this event since
1982. The Indian equestrian team emerged triumphant in the Team Dressage
category, amassing a total score of 209.205. This impressive performance pushed
China to the second position with a Silver medal and a score of 204.882, while
Hong Kong China secured the third spot with a score of 204.852.

The Indian equestrian team, comprising Sudipti Hajela with
horse Chinski, Hriday Vipul Chheda riding Chemxpro Emerald, Anush Agarwalla
partnered with Etro, and Divyakriti Singh alongside Adrenalin Firfod, etched
their names in history by capturing India’s inaugural Gold medal in Dressage at
the Asian Games. Notably, only the top three performers’ scores contributed to
the team’s overall score in the Dressage Team event. Anush Agarwalla’s
outstanding score of 71.088, secured as the final participant, proved to be a
game-changer and elevated India to the Gold medal position, following their two
Silver medals in the 2018 Asian Games.

This Gold medal represents India’s fourth ever in equestrian
at the Asian Games and their 13th medal overall in this sport. All three of
India’s previous Gold medals in Equestrian were achieved in the 1982 Asian
Games held in Delhi. Raghubir Singh won the Individual Eventing Gold, and India
also secured the Team Eventing Gold, while Rupinder Singh Brar earned a Gold
medal in individual tent pegging.

Interestingly, Anush Agarwalla, paired with horse Etro, now
holds the second spot in the individual Dressage event, which spans three days
of competition. Likewise, Vipul Hriday Chheda and his horse Chemxpro Emerald
occupy the third position in the Dressage Individual category
