“In our bid to work towards a #GreenGoa, I have cleared a file to ensure Industrial estates maintain green and clean environment. On violation of the said guidelines laid by pollution control board, strict action will be taken by the IDC,” Rane tweeted and tagged Narendra Modi and Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Goa has total 22 industrial estates. The decision in this regard was taken in August, wherein Rane had said would not allow
setting up of new bars and alcohol and brewery industries in any of the existing estates.
Industries Department is likely to write to the Excise Commissioner to cancel all the licences that are granted to bars and alcohol industries within the jurisdiction of the estates.
Excise Department will be directed to conduct survey to identify bars that are operational in the industrial estates.
Following Supreme Court order, Government has renewed Excise licences of nearly 2000 liquor outlets.
