PONDA: Local MLA and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik on Thursday called upon the Sewerage Corporation and PWD Minister to inspect the long pending work of the Ponda Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP).

Speaking to media persons, Naik says “It’s been six years people are suffering on account of bad roads which have been dug for laying sewerage lines especially from Tisk to Daag.”
He said lack of proper planning without a survey was the main reason for the delay in laying the sewerage network lines.
He demanded that the sewerage officials should clarify as to when the work would be completed.
He said the Ponda roads were in a deteriorated condition due to long pending work on sewerage network and lack of planning and execution.
The work, which commenced in 2016, is still on.
He said people commuting along the Ponda–Daag–Kavlem Durbhat road have been compelled to undergo hardship due to the pending work of the STP.
He alleged that the work got delayed due to no proper survey with regards to soil testing.
He said the main hurdle of basalt rock formation at Nagzar Ponda and Daag Ponda has led to the delay.
He said the roads dug for sewerage at Ponda including Khadpaband road often cave in as chambers are not filled and covered in a scientific manner and often lead to accidents during monsoon.
