PANJIM: The interim report by the North Goa committee appointed to check which survey numbers come within the ambit of private forests, said that out of a total of 98 survey numbers shown as naturally covered in the proposed RP 2021, 57 survey numbers were actually inspected by the committee till date and 41 are yet to be inspected.
The report which assessed the physical demarcation of the identified private forest areas will have to be taken up by the land survey department separately and the actual extent of the areas of the identified private forests will be shown only after survey and demarcation is done by the survey department, says the report submitted by the member secretary SLEC, North Goa division.
Both the North and South Goa committees were formed in accordance with the Green Tribunal order on demarcation of private forests. The committee has met and inspected various survey departments and forests before this interim report was finalized.
After the inspections, survey Nos 64, 65, 66, 69, 78, 137, 150,270, 271, 272,273, 281, 229, 300, 305, 306, 350,351, and 353 were said to be not within the ambit of private forests.
