The Manipur government has suspended mobile internet services for three days across five districts after a deadly explosion in Bishnupur claimed the lives of two children and left their mother injured. The incident triggered fresh unrest in the already sensitive region.
According to an official order issued on April 7, internet services have been curtailed in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur districts. Authorities said the move aims to prevent the spread of misinformation and maintain public order. A curfew has also been imposed in Bishnupur, where the blast occurred shortly after midnight.

The attack took place in Tronglaobi Awang Leikai village in Moirang, where suspected militants allegedly hurled an explosive device at a residence. A five-year-old boy and a six-month-old girl were killed in their sleep, while their mother sustained injuries.
The incident sparked violent protests, with locals torching vehicles, burning tyres, and damaging a police outpost. Security forces were deployed to control the situation. A mob later stormed a Central Reserve Police Force camp near the Bishnupur-Churachandpur border, prompting personnel to fire rounds and use smoke bombs to disperse the crowd.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh condemned the attack as a barbaric act and assured strict action against those responsible. The violence has once again disturbed the fragile peace in the region.
