Bengaluru police have busted an illegal IPL ticket black-marketing racket, arresting 11 individuals and seizing items worth ₹4.53 lakh. The operation was carried out on April 5 during the high-profile IPL clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
According to officials, the Special Enquiry Squad of the Central Crime Branch conducted coordinated raids within the jurisdictions of Cubbon Park and Chamarajapet police stations. A total of seven cases have been registered in connection with the illegal sale of match tickets.

Police recovered 28 IPL tickets, eight mobile phones, and several WhatsApp screenshot printouts that were being used to facilitate online resale at inflated prices. In Cubbon Park limits alone, 10 accused were apprehended, with 18 tickets and seven mobile phones seized. Another individual was arrested in Chamarajapet, where authorities recovered 10 tickets and one mobile phone.
Investigators revealed that the accused purchased tickets through official platforms and resold them at higher rates through messaging apps and social media channels.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh stated that authorities are intensifying monitoring of online platforms to curb such practices. He warned that strict action would continue against those involved in ticket scalping.
Further investigation is underway.
