PANJIM: The Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) on Friday disqualified several persons including seven board of directors of Goa State Cooperative Milk Producer’s Union Limited (Goa Dairy), Ponda for committing irregularities and for acting in manner detrimental to the interest of the Goa Dairy.
The RCS Vishant S N Gaunekar has now appointed a three-member Committee of Administrators (CoA) to manage the affairs of the Goa Dairy till fresh elections are held and new board of directors takes over.
The three-member Committee of Administrators consists of are Parag M Nagarcenkar, officerof Goa Civil Service, presently posted as special land acquisition officer, GIDC as chairman and Dr Rama G Parab, veterinary officer of Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Sandeep Parab/Parsekar, accountant of Directorate of Accounts as members.
Some of the persons disqualified are seven board of directors and former board of directors namely Rajesh K Fal Dessai, Ulhas P Sinari, Vithoba D Dessai,Vijaykant Gaonkar, Gurudas K Parab, Madhav A Sahakari, Babu Komarpant, Madhavrao Desai, Rajendra Sawal, Dhananjay Dessai, Shivanand Pednekar, Ajay Dessai, Rajendra Sawal and Anselmo Furtdo have been disqualified by the RCS through an order issued on Friday.
Goa Dairy has also been directed to submit report/proposal to conduct separate proceedings against Dr Navso Sawant for recovery of loss caused to the Dairy due to his conduct as Managing Director, which amounted to dereliction of duty. The RCS had commenced suo moto proceedings initiated against 18 persons on the board of directors of Goa Dairy on July 7, 2021.
Meanwhile, the term of the Committee of Administrators will initially for a period of six months from the date of the issue of the order and will take immediate steps to hold fresh elections in accordance with provisions of Act, rules and bye-laws of Goa Co-operative Societies Act.
Goa Dairy has around 179 primary Dairy Co-operative Societies as its members.
