NEW DELHI: Italian film “Despite the Fog” directed by Goran Paskaljievic, Europe’s most respected filmmaker, has been chosen as the opening film of the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.
In the film Paolo, owner of a small town restaurant, on his way back home on a rainy evening, sees a child huddled in the cold at a bus stop and takes him home. The child Mohammad is an abandoned refugee, who lost his parents during the trip to Italy on a rubber boat. The story is about how Paola’s wife is initially hesitant to keep the child but later changes her mind to keep him despite everybody’s opinion.
The IFFI, an annual feature now permanently hosted by Goa, will witness over 200 best films from 76 countries, 26 feature films and 15 non-feature films in the Indian panorama section. The organisers expect more than 10,000 film lovers turning up in the golden jubilee edition of the festival.
