PANJIM: A senior ITI instructor was caught accepting a bribe from a student on Friday. Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) sleuths arrested K Henry Daniel, attached with the fitters department at Altinho ITI, while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from the student. “The accused demanded a bribe despite the student successfully securing admission to ITI last week. Daniel called the complainant’s father claiming that his son was ineligible and demanded a bribe to cover it up,” an officer said. The 58-year-old Telangana native had earlier impersonated as ITI Director.
“Daniel had also told the father that if he pays another Rs 25,000 he (accused) would ensure that his son gets a government job. The complainant realised that Daniel was not the director and his demands were unjustified, and approached ACB. A trap was laid and accused arrested,” he said.
He will be produced before the court on Saturday for police remand.
