PANJIM: India Travel Mart a three-day event supported by Goa Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation started on Saturday. Inaugurating the mart, GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral said such events will boost tourism.
States including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Haryana are participating in the mart along with travel agents and Trade Associations – Indian Association of Tour Organizers (IATO), Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), Travel Agent Association of India (TAAI-Gujarat Chapter), Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI).
ITM is known for its unique quality of exhibitions and travel events showcasing the best from the travel, tourism, hospitality and related industries.
“The main focus of the exhibition is on making travel more interesting and hassle free for the traveller,” organizers said.
ITM director Ajay Gupta said the mart is not only going to come up with a variety of holiday destinations but also offer the best packages and deals in the industry. “At this time of the year, we expect a huge response and look forward to this event being a grand success,” he said.
He added, “The basic purpose of holding this event is to boost tourism awareness worldwide. We know that Goa is a perfect and ideal holiday destinations in India and this event will help tourists in Goa look for other places and explore India more.”
The exhibition will be beneficial to residents of Goa as well as foreign travellers, the organizers said.
