Jharkhand man arrested for stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh from train passenger in Konkan region

MARGAO: The Konkan Railway police arrested Nasim alias Salim Khan, 56, from Jharkhand, for allegedly stealing gold ornaments belonging to a train passenger. The ornaments were worth over Rs 7 lakh.

Police  stated that they acted on a complaint lodged by Sumitha  Bhat, 51, resident of  flat B-1, G-2 Primos Park near Sushrut Hospital, Corlim and registered an offence under Section 379 of the IPC.

Bhat stated that while she was travelling with her family in  Netravati Express, , from Mangalore Railway Station to Karmali Railway Station, some unknown accused stole a bag from her seat.

It contained  some debit/credit cards, PAN Card, election card and gold ornaments weighing ie 4 gold chains, 2 gold bangles, 1 gold necklace, 4 pairs of earrings and 4 gold fingerings weighing 269 gms all worth Rs 7.46 lakh approximately, and Rs 4,000, pass books of different banks and a mobile phone worth Rs 9,000. All above items were worth Rs 7.59 lakh.
