Inam, a tiatr written by Sunny de Cortalim, directed by Rajesh Kundaikar and presented by Union of Senior Citizens and Associates, Cortalim, focuses on the joint family and its consequences.
After marriage, siblings Tommy (Andrew Lucas) and Jose (Sandeep Bandodkar) reside in the same ancestral house with their respective spouses Maclin (Felcy Barbosa) and Rozlin (Brenda Gama) and families. Instead of brotherhood and unity, the joint family system invites only misunderstandings and conflicts among the members.
When better sense prevails, Jose and his wife Rozlin decide to move out and construct a bungalow with the consent of Tommy and with the assistance of son-in-law Vallti (Anish Miranda). But will jealousy and fights between the women end? Who takes advantage of the ignorance that prevails in the family?
‘Inam’ throws light on the joint family system which might not be so prominent in today’s society, except among certain sections. Between the bickering that prevails in the two households, there are various other incidents. Corruption at the grassroots has also been tackled in the drama.
There’s a good display of talent on stage – of the artistes as well as the singers. But fine tuning these would have helped to make viewing more appealing. Andrew and Sandeep along with Felcy and Brenda put in their best in their respective roles. Bacileo and Jose Mario extend good support to the main cast. Anish is comfortable in a negative role. Meenakshi Chougale is quite expressive in dialogues and body language.
Although Rohima and Marcus entertain in the comic interludes, comedy does not find a prominent place in the main plot. In the category of songs, solos by Agnelo, Trecy, Jonny Boy, besides duet, trios, quartets, quintets and choral renditions were entertaining.
