MAPUSA: Josephine Alex D’Cruz was elected unopposed as the new deputy sarpanch of Parra Village Panchayat, on Tuesday.
The post of sarpanch was vacant since October 2021 after former deputy sarpanch Kamla Nigudkar resigned from the post.
Name of Josephine was proposed by Kamla and seconded by Edwin Lobo.
A special meeting was called in the office of Parra Village Panchayat to hold the election of the deputy sarpanch during which Presiding Officer Shirish Kumar Tari declared Josephine elected unopposed as the new deputy.
Sarpanch Delilah Lobo and ward members Domnic D’Souza, Kamla, Edwin, were present among others.
