Kala Academy Goa will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of its 50th Konkani Drama Competition on July 10 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, marking a significant milestone in the state’s rich theatrical tradition.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will attend the function as the chief guest. During the event, noted playwright Pundalik Narayan Nayak will be conferred with the prestigious Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Konkani theatre. Around 30 theatre artists will also be felicitated for their contribution to the performing arts.

Meanwhile, Kala Academy officials have clarified that the upcoming renovation works will be confined to the main auditorium, which will remain closed during the project. They assured that the institution’s regular activities will continue without interruption.
Classes, administrative offices, the Black Box Theatre and parking facilities will remain operational throughout the renovation period, ensuring that cultural and academic programmes continue as scheduled.
Officials further stated that the remaining amount of approximately ₹10 crore for the renovation project will be released after the expert committee submits its final assessment report.
