Kamakshi victims meet accused in custody

PANJIM: As many as 150 investment fraud victims met the Economic Offences Cell sleuths at Police Headquarters in Panjim demanding that prime accused Nilesh Raikar – presently in police custody – return their hard-earned money.

PANJIM: As many as 150 investment fraud victims met the Economic Offences Cell sleuths at Police Headquarters in Panjim demanding that prime accused Nilesh Raikar – presently in police custody – return their hard-earned money. 
The investors also wanted to meet Raikar who is undergoing custodial interrogation till May 5. Since the number of persons at PHQ was high, EOC SP Priyanka Kashyap allowed only a delegation to meet Nilesh in custody. The IPS officer interacted with the locals assuring a watertight case against the accused.
Sources said that Nilesh, claiming he was nearly bankrupt, assured the representatives to return their money once he is bailed out. 
“The locals came to us demanding that Nilesh return their principal amount if not the entire money. Kamakshi Forex Pvt Ltd, that he operated, had promised interest on the investment,” EOC Police Inspector Shivram Vaigankar said.
EOC has confirmed over 420 complaints against Nilesh. His custodial interrogation ends on May 5 when the investigation team will seek his judicial custody. During interrogation, Nilesh revealed details of property including four apartments and around six shops in Margao, one apartment in Panjim, a flat and a shop each in Calangute and Mapusa and two plots of 600 sq mtrs and another 400 sq mtrs in Betalbatim. While he allegedly holds 52 bank accounts, which have a total balance of Rs one lakh, the property amount calculated is recorded at around Rs 10 crore.
