PONDA: The mushrooming of illegal transport offices along the NH, parking of trucks by the roadside were among other issues debated at the Kavlem gramsabha.
Villagers discussed the nuisance caused due to the cropping up of illegal transport offices from Dhavlim to Perigol on the NH.
They pointed out that many such offices have no parking spaces and as a result end up parking the trucks on the road which results in traffic chaos.
Villagers charged that the truck drivers often defecate in the open thereby causing nuisance and added that even an LPG vehicle loaded with gas cylinders is constantly parked by the roadside. They demanded strict action into matter by Panchayat and RTO. Sarpanch Manjua Naik and Deputy Sushant Kapileshwarkar who chaired the meeting also assured to take action against illegal transport offices.
The members pointed out the growing population of stray dogs and cattle was a cause of concern and asked the Panchayat to sign agreement with People For Animals (PFA) to solve the menace.
The villagers demanded that the Panchayat verify legal documents before providing NOCs and construction licences to prevent illegalities.
