PONDA: To maintain sanctity in Kavlem Shanntadurga temple, the temple committee has decided to implement dress code not only for tourists but also for the mahajans and local devotees.
To prevent hardship, the clothes during the temple visit would provided free of cost to tourists. “We have even deployed security guards so that no tourist violates the rule. We are bearing extra cost on security for the implementation of this rule strictly,” temple committee member Deelip Gaytonde said.
The dress code is being implemented since June 1. Few years ago, some temples and even Churches had implemented dress code for tourists.
On the reason for implementing dress code, Gaytonde said that there was rising demand from devotees in Goa to maintain decorum and sanctity in the temple. “So, the temple committee has decided to implement dress code for the mahajans, devotees, tourists and public at large visiting the temple,” he said.
Notices have been displayed at entrance and other places in the temple that no person wearing shorts, miniskirts, middies, sleeveless tops, low waist jeans and T-shirts will be allowed to enter into the temple.
Gaytonde also said that all the temples should follow similar dress code so that tourists take care to observe sanctity in temples.
