MARGAO: Prashant Naik, a former member of Goans for Goa (GFG), has strongly criticised the GFG President Kennedy Afonso for his plan to float a party.
Calling Afonso as a dictator who puts up a one-man show, Naik accused him of planning to float a party with vested interest.
In a press statement, Naik said, “GFG President Kennedy Afonso is working like a ‘supremo’ and a one-man army in Goans for Goa. Some days back he convened a meeting of eight of nine members of GFG wherein he discussed about floating a new party. After the meeting, he suddenly met Aam Admi Party leaders to merge GFG with AAP as he has his vested interests in floating the political franchise,” Naik said.
“Afonso has no sympathy for Goans. GFG was formed for a good cause with good thoughts, but Kennedy Afonso’s working style is taking a toll on the cause for which the organisation was formed,” Naik said. “First, the secretary Simon Fernandes resigned, then, some executive members joined NCP and after me two more will resign soon,” Prashant claimed.
“GFG general body appointed me as treasurer and Simon Fernandes as secretary. But till today no account has been signed by us, neither any detail of the accounts of GFG is available. We had a big convention with Fr Bismarque and Claud Alvares in Gomant Vidya Niketan one year back. Some funds came from NRI’s too. But still no account of the money has been shown to members by Kennedy,” Prashant alleged.
