Kerya locals object to NH authorities constructing retaining wall

Ponda: Tension prevailed at Kerya –Khandepar when the workers engaged in the construction of the retaining wall for the service road by the side of NH started construction of retaining wall just on the pathway of locals residing at Kerya. It may be recalled the NH four lane widening work progressing in Kerya and it passes close to the residential area.
The Locals fearing that if they were allowed to continue work on the retaining wall for service road then it will block the pathway to residential houses. They gathered and objected to the construction work of retaining and also stopped it. Following this the National Highway Authorities including JE Pandurang Varde and Anand Wagurmekar reached the spot and discussed the issue with the locals. However, the locals said that they will not allow the wall to be constructed. 
Local Rocky Dias spoke to the Herald and said the NH Authorities are not taking the locals into confidence despite the Highway work is passing close to the  residential area in a dangerous manner. He said earlier the NH authorities had shown suitable service road but now had changed mind. He said if retaining wall come on pathway they will not able to carry their vehicles to their residential houses.
