PONDA: Khandepar locals have complained about the plastic and hazardous commercial waste including soft drink bottles being burnt at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Deep Nagar, Curti.
Sandeep Parkar had filed complaint with the Pollution Control Board following which the officials inspected the site along with the complainant.
According to Sandeep, the MRF shed is not for burning plastic waste but to collect, compress and send it to concerned government plant for further process. However, at Curti Khandepar Panchayat, the MRF site is used for burning plastic waste by the contractor.
Sandeep said the shed is used for burning plastic and also for making commercial use of MRF shed for keeping thousands of soft drink bottles.
