PONDA: Locals of Khandepar have opposed the proposed bandhara at Murdi, since the beginning and now they are strongly backed by the local panchayat. An important resolution was passed on Sunday in the Curti-Khandepar panchayat’s gram sabha to not grant any required permissions for the construction of the bandhara.
Deputy Sarpanch of Khandepar VP Wilma Pereira, panchayat secretary Sachin Naik, BDO official Padmini Shirodkar and other panchayat members attended the meeting which was presided over by Sarpanch Sanjana Naik.
Locals highlighted the presence of offices of goods carrying trucks which do not serve any benefits to the panchayat. Sarpanch Sanjana Naik informed that the notices to the illegal offices have already been issued and soon a joint-inspection will be undertaken.
It may be recalled that the panchayat has already written to the BDO office, deputy collector’s office and police to stop the work of bandhara at Murdi. However, the resolution to not grant any permissions regarding the construction was still tabled and passed unanimously.
