BICHOLIM: The Bicholim Municipal Council will launch a special drive to recover pending dues from various establishments, government offices and other businesses located within its jurisdiction. These dues include interest on the pending amount and the total amount stands to the tune of Rs 5.5 crore.
One of the councillors also brought the menace of stray dogs to the attention of the council. Although the matter was discussed at length, the council could not come up with a definite resolution.

Garbage caused due to the food carts shifted in the market area, encroachments on either sides by the vendors, parking issue and ward-wise planning of development works were some of the other issues which council discussed.
“The amount due from government offices go above Rs 1 crore while the total amount considering other businesses and interest, totals to Rs 5.5 crore,” said Municipal Chief Officer Sachin Desai. He informed that around 5,000 notices have been issued.
Chairperson Kundan Falari, deputy chairperson Sukhada Teli, councillors Vijaykumar Natekar, Dipa Shirgaonkar, Dipa Pal, Satish Gaonkar, Riyaz Beig, Tanuja Gaonkar, Nilesh Tople, Aniket Chanekar, Sudan Govekar, Gunjan Korgaonkar and Chief Officer Sachin Desai attended the meeting.
