The Goa High Court has pulled up several village panchayats for failing to remove illegal roadside hoardings and directed authorities to strictly comply with its earlier order on the matter.
The court directed the Panchayat Secretaries of Chicalim, Agassaim, Penha de França, Merces and Verna, along with the Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and the Chief Officer of the Mapusa Municipality, to ensure the removal of illegal hoardings from their respective jurisdictions.
The authorities have also been directed to file compliance reports before the court on August 24.
The latest direction follows the court’s earlier order calling for action against unauthorised hoardings along roads. The High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of the concerned local bodies to fully implement its directions.
The court has now made it clear that the concerned officials must strictly comply with the earlier order and submit details of the action taken by the next hearing.
