District and Sessions Court, Panjim today held a person hailing from Kolhapur guilty of murdering his brother-in-law in Goa.
Sessions Judge Nutan Sardesai convicting Raju Shirke, 44, for murdering his brother-in-law, Sanjay Pawar at Bicholim has reserved the quantum of sentence for August 10.
Shirke originally hails from Azra near Kolhapur. He was staying with his brother-in-law for the last 15 years at Usmewada, Bicholim.
The incident occurred on October 9, 2008 when they had a bitter fight as Sanjay asked Shirke, who had married his sister, not to stay with him.
Bicholim police had arrested Shirke and charged him for murder. During the trial, Shirke’s wife, Milan, was the main prosecution witness. The prosecution examined 19 witnesses during the trial.
The case was investigated by Police Inspector Braz Menezes.
