MARGAO: Kantaar, a Konkani film produced by Janette Noronha Productions and starring Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff along with Telugu actor Noel Shawn and Ester Noronha from Mangalore in the lead roles will premiere on Monday at 7.30 pm at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
The film that deals with value of life is apt for modern day youth who face depression and rejection at the drop of the hat and who opt for suicide without thinking of the impact of that impetuous decision, said Janette Noronha whose daughter Ester essays the main female role.
Ester said the film shows how two different generations can help each other and also learn from each other to enjoy life along with learning how to deal with the problems that life throws at you to draw the lesson that living life is easy instead of opting for suicide.
Directed by Nilesh Malkar, who has earlier directed four Marathi films and one Konkani film titled Soul Curry, said that the film has around 15 artistes from the Goan tiatr including Luis Bachchan and Chitra and was shot extensively in South Goa at Colva, Varca, Benaulim and Margao.
In fact, of the 22 days spent on shooting only three days shooting was done in North Goa while the rest of the movie was filmed in South Goa. The movie runs for 117 minutes and matches any Bollywood production, Nilesh said and praised the production house. The post production work took two and a half months.
The film has already been booked for a show at Panjim and Ponda and will subsequently be shown in Mangalore and Mumbai before going overseas where Konkani speaking people live. Janette disclosed that her earlier film Sophia was screened in the Gulf countries besides at UK, Canada, Israel, Australia and New Zealand and the film had 400 shows. Goa’s nightingale Lorna besides being the playback singer is also a part of the movie.
