KRC’s initiatives for safe and pleasant journeys

MARGAO: Given the fact that Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm in the Konkan region where people visit their ancestral home for the celebration  with their entire families, the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) has taken up various initiatives to provide safe and pleasant journeys.
Besides running 210 trips by special trains in addition to its regular services, the KRC in co-ordination with Central and Western Railways would provide 647 additional coaches as compared to last year.
Trains 12051 and 12052 plying between Dadar and Margao Junction namely the Dadar Janshatabdi Express will halt at Sawantwadi Road station from August 20. Extra booking windows reservation facility will be provided at 11 post offices along with passenger reservation system at 17 railway stations and 16 booking agencies in towns have been authorised to issue tickets.
The authorities will carry out intensive ticket checking to ensure that there are no unauthorised passengers during the season and all catering establishments have been advised to keep sufficient stock of eatables and drinking water along with baby food products.
First Aid posts have been set up at Khed, Kankavali and Kudal stations in addition to the health units at Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Tivim, Verna, Margao, Karwar and Udupi which will be manned round-the-clock from September 2 to 12. To provide security to the passengers special arrangements have been made and one company of Railway Protection Special Force has been deployed along with the RPF.
