K’taka native booked for kidnapping, sexually assaulting minor

Mapusa:  The Mapusa police arrested a Karnataka native for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

The accused Mohammad Salim Rajaballi, aged 23, presently residing at Betim was later booked by the police for kidnapping and sexually assaulting the minor victim. 

Police stated that the victim’s mother had lodged a complaint on July 10 that an unknown  accused had kidnapped her minor daughter from the KTC bus stand at Mapusa. An offence  under section 363 of IPC and Sec 8 of the Goa Children’s Act was registered in this connection.

During the course of investigation, different teams were constituted and deputed at Belagavi and Davangiri in Karnatka to locate the accused.

Rajaballi was later intercepted at Davangiri, Karnataka and the victim was also rescued from his clutches.

The victim was medically examined, her statement recorded and stringent sections of  POCSO Act were added to the offence.

The investigating team consisted of LPSI Reecha Bhonsle, PSI Gaurav Naik, PSI Viraj Korgaonkar, constables Sushant Chopdekar, Akshay Patil and  Prajakta Zalba.
