KTC driver assaulted at Vasco

VASCO: A resident of New Vaddem, Vasco, was detained after he was accused of abusing and brutally assaulting a KTC driver opposite the KTC bus stand at Vasco.
According to reports, a complaint was lodged against the acused Frazier Fernandes for allegedly abusing and assaulting Shashikant B Shirodkar, senior driver of KTCL, while he was discharging his duty at Vasco on March 20.
Fernandes was proceeding in a car when he allegedly restrained and obstructed the KTC bus (GA-03-X-0080). The accused forcibly opened the door of the KTC bus and allegedly assaulted Shirodkar with fist blows on his face and abused him.
Fernandes also allegedly snatched gold chain and broke it, thereby causing loss of Rs Rs 25,000.
Meanwhile, the union has taken up the matter with KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida and Derrick Pereira (Neto) to take a serious view of the matter and demanded to duly compensate the driver and take up his matter with the appropriate authorities.
