Land alloted to compensate Tamnar project

MARGAO: In a move to offset environmental impacts, the Goa government has designated a sizeable tract of land as a reserved forest for coaThis decision comes in lieu of diverting 78.297 hectares of land for the construction of the Tamnar transmission line project. The newly notified reserved forest area spans Survey No. 21/1, 22/1, and 24/1-A of Sangod Village in DharbandoraTaluka.

The notification states that the 1.72 lakh square meter area will be used for raising compensatory afforestation to offset the diversion of 78.297 hectares of land. This land diversion is necessary for the construction of the 400 KV D/C Xeldem to Mapusa Transmission Line and the Xeldem to Xeldem (Existing) 220 KV HTLS D/C Transmission Line. The project is being undertaken by M/s Goa Tamnar Transmission Project Ltd and the compensatory afforestation measure aims to mitigate the environmental impact.
