Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the projects, which cost Rs 4 lakh crore. The event will be attended by senior officials, including municipal commissioners and mayors, from state governments and union territories that deal with urban affairs.
Panjim, Margao and Mormugao were included in the list of mission cities, and therefore, the DMA office sought confirmation on whether administrators from these cities would participate.
“As far as I know, the NDA government recently cleared the proposal to provide affordable housing for urban poor. The central grant for the ‘Housing for All’ project will be around Rs 3 lakh crore over the next seven years. I am excited to be part of this historic launch and the two-day workshop in Delhi,” said Lavina.
