PORVORIM: Inadequate supply of potable water and failure to connect households with sewerage connections were the serious concerns raised by the legislators during the discussion on the PWD demand.
The legislators were unanimous in their demand that people should be provided with 24×7 water supply and that every household will be connected with a sewerage line.
Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte pointed out that it’s been nearly six years since the govt promised to connect every household with the sewerage connection and remarked that without doing so, even installation of bio-toilets won’t help in achieving ODF by August 31 as announced.
Khaunte also criticised the Sewerage Corporation for delaying the project.
Congress MLA Ravi Naik demanded that the govt immediately replaces the old sewerage network system and provide connections to the houses. Senior Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane said that the govt should ensure that there is no water leakage and sufficient water supply to all.
GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai took a dig at the government over its own MLAs begging for adequate water supply to their people.
BJP MLA Isidore Fernandes said that rather than focusing on providing 24×7 water supply; the govt should ensure that people get adequate water daily.
Other MLAs also raised similar concerns
