MARGAO: In an incident that sent shockwaves in Peddem-Loliem, a 45-year-old Canacona local was attacked by a leopard and is receiving medical treatment at the Canacona Community Health Centre.
Victim Dilip Ram Satarkar, managed to fight off the leopard who got scared with the noise that followed the attack and fled into the forest. Satarkar received cuts on the top of his left eye and head and received 25 stitches.

Satarkar said his dog started barking loudly which alerted him. The leopard jumped at him and injured him with the paw.
The incident has raised concerns given that this is a residential area although Satarkar’s house is situated in the interior part of village. Locals have demanded the Forest Department immediately catch the animal.
They also recalled similar leopard attacks on locals in the past.
